what a difference one missing letter makes, lol, I had to read your sentence twice before I understood what you meant: You can be just as lonely in a crow
uh...crowd...ROFL!

Quirky,
Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that movie, but, never watched it for some weird reason. I agree that there are many who see sex as a means to stop being lonely. Been there myself and found its just not worth the trouble. I feel that "one nighters" is just another way to abuse yourself both emotionally and physically and nothing more. You can be just as lonely in a crow as being stuck by yourself on a island. Its not the location, its the person. Shadow

No, these kinds of things probably don't change much with the times...maybe a little, though.

I suppose the difference is that was pre-AIDS but no I believe that these things don't change. Some women must have someone and seem able to find people and others don't and don't

I've known women like that...and I think there are married women who put up with emotional abuse because they are afraid of being alone, don't think they are worthy, etc.....the same things that make single women look for Mr. Goodbar. I remember the movie well.

thank you for commenting. Self-respect and self-esteem are probably two big reason why there would be women like this. Good for you for helping them!

First, congrats on your first place ranking. Second, I remember the movie, and found myself haunted by the ending. Men/Women relationships are such enigmas that leave me in a constant state of bafflement.

Quirky I thought the former post was powerful too particularly when you
put the totality of the issue into a few words in the last paragraph. Do I know women like this? Yes! That is part of what I do in Christian Service Work is help women to overcome such behavior.
Some are addicts. Some have had absolutely no life skills training except sex. In my limited way I am helping them to come to some sort of self respect before we can even teach them they have a right to choose rather than be chosen. It is sad. Many women today live that life and more they drag their children through it.
When anyone comes to the point they rather be alone with the Sunday funnies than with an empty relationship they are ready to stop the one-nighters and look for a keeper.
I too remember that movie.
