Been there, done that.
Food poisoning is no fun. It was from Church's fried chicken. Luckily I was not the only one afflicted, and I was with lots of people at the time who transported me to the hospital. Yes, there were embarassing moments, but I made it without ruining their car on the way.

Not to belabor the topic,
because I'm sure your agony is long gone, now, but my mom always recommended Pedialyte, too, to help rehydrate your body even while you puke. And during the, uh, expelling phase itself, to not drink (or eat!) a thing. Someone else mentioned that, too, and it's true. If you drink when you can't keep anything down, you'll keep puking and risk seriously seriously dehydrating yourself. It's best to just bit the bullet and let it run its course. The ginger and stuff is for the pre-puking! Some pregnant women, for example, drink ginger tea to help with nausea.

I used to write a lot longer posts, but I have come to realize that longer is not better, and most people will skim if it's more than a few paragraphs. Thanks for the compliment!

Ginger ale helps because...
Ginger is supposed to calm your stomach. Cola syrup does the same thing, but ginger is usually better, I believe. Mineral water is good, too, because it helps replace some of the nutrients you lost.

Hope you're feeling better, Quirky.
Last time that happened to me, I was on chicken soup, genger ale and popsickles for two weeks.
The flavor ice things, the ones that come in those plastic tubes, are the best. They're cheap -- like five bucks for a pack of 200, or something like that, and they'll keep you alive for weeks.
And as Grizzard said, and I believe, "Ginger Ale can heal the sick and raise the dead."
