Been there, done that.
Food poisoning is no fun.  It was from Church's fried chicken.  Luckily I was not the only one afflicted, and I was with lots of people at the time who transported me to the hospital.  Yes, there were embarassing moments, but I made it without ruining their car on the way.

UGH!
Having had food poisoning before, I know what you went though!  I sure hope you're all better now!

Not to belabor the topic,
because I'm sure your agony is long gone, now, but my mom always recommended Pedialyte, too, to help rehydrate your body even while you puke.  And during the, uh, expelling phase itself, to not drink (or eat!) a thing.  Someone else mentioned that, too, and it's true.  If you drink when you can't keep anything down, you'll keep puking and risk seriously seriously dehydrating yourself.  It's best to just bit the bullet and let it run its course.  The ginger and stuff is for the pre-puking!  Some pregnant women, for example, drink ginger tea to help with nausea.

medusa--
I used to write a lot longer posts, but I have come to realize that longer is not better, and most people will skim if it's more than a few paragraphs. Thanks for the compliment!

Ugh, that doesn't sound like fun. Perhaps it was a reaction to something out of sync. I try to spare my readers from some things

Quirky...Just the right amount of information!

Ginger ale helps because...
Ginger is supposed to calm your stomach.  Cola syrup does the same thing, but ginger is usually better, I believe.  Mineral water is good, too, because it helps replace some of the nutrients you lost.

don't worry, Quirky, it wasn't all just water you lost...
it was a lot of other stuff, too.  (hope that made you laugh)  Hope you're feeling better soon...

yeah---what IS it with ginger ale, anyway?? I never really understood how soda could make you feel better...but hey, don't knock what works, right?

Hope you're feeling better, Quirky.
Last time that happened to me, I was on chicken soup, genger ale and popsickles for two weeks.

The flavor ice things, the ones that come in those plastic tubes, are the best. They're cheap -- like five bucks for a pack of 200, or something like that, and they'll keep you alive for weeks.
And as Grizzard said, and I believe, "Ginger Ale can heal the sick and raise the dead."

I would think that "telling all" would have the opposite effect to garnering clicks...me, I run away from TMI...and fast!!

Not too much for me Quirky
If you would have went into..umm, descriptive detail about the effects of your illness, that would have been too much, lol. You shared quite gracefully and presented a good point in my opinion.

Quirky, "Telling all" garners clicks.    Sorry you've been sick.

katray--thanks, you are sweet.
did I tell too much, too much detail, do you think?? I almost didn't want to say ANYTHING because that can be TMI...

Saltines or dry toast a good start...
Poor Quirky - I hate those belly bugs - yech! TMI...I agree, some things need no further details in writing.;) Hope you're feeling better.
