I agree with you here, May
The first sentence or two in almost any composition sets the tone for the rest of story/article. And, yes, it general introduces an author's opinion--right off the bat.

word.smith, it does make a difference

Thanks for that tip, MayB.
I came across an article last week and the writer recommended reading aloud.  I read and re-read, but not alloud, unless I am slightly confused with what I've written - as crazy as that may sound.

I find it much easier to read aloud after I have written it .
it just makes more sense that way...

No-no, I don't speak while I blog
although I have started moving my lips a lot....

I must admit, I usually read my writing out loud, especially if I'm sending it somewhere.

MayB...
I often do this with my own work if I'm being serious about it. I find it to be extremely beneficial. It really helps me find the grammatical mistakes.

Majroj, you are lucky you can do that. I am best advised to keep the mouth zipped and the keyboard busy

I save a step. I blog like I speak.

Except I use my hands a lot more.

I will use flowcharting to check a plan or process; too bad it's hard to use flowcharting for writing analysis. I bet I could figure out a way to do it, though.

I'd bet higher that someone else has already done it, though!

I just get really self concious having others read my work out loud, but then maybe that's one of the hurdles you have to overcome to be a really great writer.

Very Good Advice!

reading aloud changes things...but I'll bet some of them would benefit from just reading it back period!

McNab, with great confidence I can say No. Some don't read and many of them only write when they must but what makes me so sure is that Blogit has a subscription fee.

Reading it aloud makes all the difference in the world!!!
I read my stuff aloud to Steve sometimes and 'hear' the mistakes!  Good advice!
