Spot on. Good essay. All the women politicians, PMs, royalty are also fallible. ;)

Indeed so! Anyone living in London in, say, the1840s and 50s, could confidently have predicted that a century hence, most of the population would have died of cholera.

So much for the power of prediction

Ariel,
Since all of this is supposed to take place in 125,000 years, I think I'll relax and enjoy the weekend.  Aside from that, I find that prophesies extended out to that range tend to overlook too many possible changes in the interim period to be the least bit meaningful.     jj

ariel70 -- I'm still waiting for the domed cities that we were supposed to
all be living in by the year 2,000 so I can work in my paperless office.

Ariel...They don't teach grammar like they used to....
Even I have trouble with some sentence phrasing. My late father was a newspaper editor. So he was always there to proofread my work. As I get older, I seem to be slipping on some of my own rules of grammar. But I know what you mean about some writers here...lol

Medusa

Thank you for your comment.

I have had a life-long love affair with the English language, and I cherish it more than anything.

I hesitate to say this, but some people in here really ought to go back to school. An old-fashioned school, where grammar, syntax and punctuation are paramount.

( My use of a space at each side of a colon or semi-colon, is mere affectation, I assure you. Only one who knows the rules should be permitted to deviate from them
