Extraordinario ...
It's yummy, like Italy ... the life style is so different than the States. It's a bit dreamy, a little wild, unpretentious and exciting. Definately romantic.

Spain sounds very colorful.
Could probably sit near a fountain all day and do nothing more than people watch.

Oh, Spain is indeed wonderful ; vibrant, frustrating, mesmerising, moving, joyous, sad, savage ... and absolutely soaked in history.
I didn't star writing seriously until I was 69, when we first came here, and now? I can't stop, not that I want to. I write for local English language magazines

Wow! Very interesting post
Spain sounds wonderful. I also wish that I could paint better, but I also love writing. There is nothing better then a voice on paper that actually interests people.

Though I'm not ashamed to admit that I made minced meat out of some of the words! :)

Ariel,
You do a marvelous job of capturing the culture of Spain. Hemingway did it, in a very good way, but he didn't get down to la gente de las calles in the way that you do.
I have been to Mexico many times over the years and, quite amazingly, the culture of which you speak in Spain made it across the Atlantic to Latin America. It has changed a little, of course. Many of the Indian cultures of those countries have been joined with it, as well as an Estadounidense influence, but it is still very visible--those same characteristics of which you speak in Spain. Unfortunately, machísimo has come along too, but it's usually easy to sidestep that as it roars past. And, of course, we must speak very carefully of Cabrónes when we use the word. But, after all this time, the similarities amaze me. *Excellent post*
(I asked Ariala last night in her comments, where you came by, whether she wanted to move to Spain. She said it was the nicest proposal she ever had. (hehehe
LOL)

(I hope she doesn't see this and get mad.)
