- Go to TELL ME, WHY IS BUSH A CRIMINAL?
It has and always will be
that the young of a country must sacrafice for the foolishness of the old of that same nation.
I too am a Vietnam Vet. Infantry, and have paid the price for the majority of my life.
It is far to easy to send our youth, the hope and future of our country off to be sacrificed for foolish ideals and economic gains.
Perhaps if it was as hard to get into wars as is it seems to be hard to get out of them, there wouldn't be so many.

Yes, I agree. Genuine concerns, and genuine grievances are not being addressed by Bush and his administration. They appear to be too arrogant to even listen to the voices of dissent

Ariel70, I did not form my opinion based so much on his character but on words and actions watched over time.
I agree that one should not be called a criminal until they are convicted and I understand that incompetence and callousness are not crimes.
However, I think it would serve society ill if people couldn't speak in opposition to the encumbent. There is a tendency to brush aside as innuendo any criticism but many people are simply voicing deep and genuine concerns based on what they;ve seen and heard. I think many feel that they have evidence enough but are muffled which also affects the cohesion and stability of society. It can't go all one way

Thank you for your interesting comment.
I agree that Bush has evinced all the lack of leasdership that you quote, and indeed he should be made to account for that.
But incompetence, callousness, or any other shortcoming in his character do not constitute criminal behaviour. Until, and if, evidence of this is found, then he should rightly be charged with it.
But until then - to put it crudely - his opponents should either put up, or shut up, and concentrate their efforts on what can be proved. Not try the man with innuendo ; which is intolerable in any purportedly civilized society. It is is extremely damaging to the cohesion of any society.

Ariel70, I don't know if Bush is a criminal -- I couldn't say until I had all evidence in front of me (as explained by great legal minds) but I believe that he has been negligent, and insensitive, and ill-informed too many times. I also believe that he cannot seriously carry out an inquiry when he is among those whose actions must be probed.

Great post. Glad to hear it from someone on the continent. I am waiting for Damon Leigh to weigh in on it since he routinely makes such charges. Also because he fancies himself decidedly more sophisticated than the rest of us seemingly on account of his Britishness.

Good post...Americans are quick to point the finger...
it's easy to do...shame they aren't all as quick to help and support.

You are observing the legacy of former President Clinton. The media, and of course politicians, lie to further a personal agenda. I began my political life a high school student, and John F. Kennedy supporter. And, I was one of those who came home from Vietnam to a hostile nation. And, you are correct, as evidence by the demonstrations taking place outside Walter Reed Hospital, at the insultes shouted at the wounded soldiers.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful post.

Thank you, you've eased my mind no end. I suspected that such was the case, but all this media hype masks the true situation

Only 13 % of Americans think Bush is doing a bad job of handling this disaster...according to polls. Thank you for expressing, from afar, your eloquent view of the political controversy. We need that perspective. Some here waste time with harsh rhetoric. Most are helping to ease victim's pain and suffering in any way that they can.
