Answer - the news media doesn't dare show it because it justifies the war on terror, thereby proving Bush right. But with the immediate attack on Bush for Hurricane Katrina - including, in some circles,  blaming him for the storm itself  - count on seeing Katrina images for months, and during every national election season till who knows when.

And why is it the media, even Fox, refuses to reboradcast the aircraft smashing into the World Trade Center? Why are the falling bodies of those who chose an instant of freefall and quick death rather than face the fierce inferno? Because the image could create anger, or so the story goes. I have seen the Arizona, and the death of two thousand salors at Peral Harbor more often in the last four years than the desturction of the World Trade Center. It is a disgrace, a shamful example of political correctness, and it does make me angry.
