It's said that prayer doesn't so much change God's mind...
...as it does to put our minds in tune with His will.
Not to say that He doesn't step in many times in answer to prayer, because I personally know that He does!
We will know, in His good time, why some prayers are answered Yes, others No, and still others Later/Wait.
Blessings!
AJ
Legend
has it
that,
one day,
a
young man
was
walking along the beach
when
he came across
an
old man
picking up starfish
that
had
washed ashore and
tossing them
back into the ocean.
He informed the old man
that there were
thousands of starfish
along
countless miles of beach...
"Do you really
believe that
you can
save them all?" he asked.
The old man,
without a word,
bent over
and picked up
another starfish,
tossed it
out into the ocean,
and, then, responded:
"I saved this one!"
Keeping that in mind, please read this!

Finally, to Scriber...
I know the President prays. My sister has a PR business and worked with him when he was governor of Texas and she knows he prays. However, President Bush is only one man and it seems that the American people have forgotten their part in praying for him and for God to give him wisdom and guidance. Everyone wants the President to take the blame for everything that goes wrong but what about our responsibility to him? This country was not set up to be taken care of by our government. Our government was set up to be cared for and run by its people. Unfortunately, most of our people have gotten lazy and would prefer to let someone take care of them. Socialism doesn't work, that's why the U.S.S.R. is no longer in existence.
It sort of reminds me of someone complaining because they have no friends but they haven't done anything to be a friend to anyone so why should they have a friend. The President is one person with a lot of other people both close to him and in the enemy camp trying to find fault instead of standing up and saying "let me help." The best thing that happened since the hurricane was that ordinary people jumped in to help when the government wasn't able to do so. That's what this country is all about.

Next, to Dennison...
Don't you think that's a foolish question? Of course, God could supernaturally provide electricity but He gave us the tools to provide it for ourselves. My prayer was that He show whoever was working on it the problem and how to fix it. Obviously, He did.

First - to Ariala
I can't tell you why New Orleans wasn't spared. I prayed that the hurricane would turn back the night before because my family is in Southern Mississippi ( my blog - Katrina - Still Personal). I don't know why certain things happen, even though I do know that sin brings judgment. However, there are a lot of good people down there as well as bad and they were hurt, too. My family lost five homes that we know of. I'm not God but I do know that prayer works. I'm just not perfect at it. I do my best as we all must.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Whimsy, I'm glad your prayer was answered, but the problem I have
with that is that people prayed New Orleans would be spared and it wasn't...how would you address that?
Listen, I'm a Christian, so I'm not taking issue with you...I just want to know how you deal with people's questions on such thing.
