I think your boyfriend is being a bit harsh feeling gay guys can't be good school teachers. However, I, like him, don't feel it is appropriate for a scoutmaster to be a gay guy. Tell ya why. . , The Boy Scouts is a Christian Organization. . , they adhere to and promote Christian beliefs. Homosexuality, of course, is frowned upon by Christians.

Yep, dumped him cold. I figured that no one with such a closed
mind could ever have a future with me on any kind of serious basis--and things were headed that way. I still talk to him--he's nice besides being a racist homophobe--and he occasionally comments about how I was "the one" (both happily married now) and that things work out for a "reason". No facking kidding.

I had a boyfriend who said this once, after meeting a gay neighbor of
mine. I was 19 and had loved him for years. Dumped him the next day and went out drinking with my neighbor. Best decision I ever made.

Ariala that's EXACTLY what he said!!! I just didn't think it fair
to label all gays "pedefiers"...priest are sexually deprived people who are ALSO sick...but why think it a gay thing? A pedifier is a pedifier...meaning they like children...gays happen to get emotionally and physically involved with their same sex...Whether heterosexual, hosexual, or asexual....there is still an equal risk of child molestation...Big hug for dropping in. cosy, I think some parents are afraid of gay teachers because of what
priests have done to boys for years now, and it just recently surfaced. When someone is opposed to anything, I always ask WHY? It usually goes back to fear. Deal with their fear and you might be able to help them.

However, I know that there must be something out of their control that gears one that way...I mean seriously, would anyone, if it were a choice at birth, choose being gay??? I highly doubt it...

My mom used to say that to me because I like having gay friends....she thought I'd suddenly turn gay. I'm heterosexual...but I don't define people by their sexuality or race...but as one and the same...in my eyes everyone is equal and deserving...to love and be loved...etc. I love people for "who" they are on the inside. I don't think my mom is a cruel person, just unaware. She's locked in a box with no peepholes....I keep poking her box, but it's indestructible. Sounds like he's in a box too....
I think you're great just the way you are...
I'd trust you with no question....
Wish everyone else in the world valued "woman/mankind" as much as you and I do....
