- Go to Why is There so Much Talk About Sin in Church, Rather than Love?
Both sins of omission and sins of commission
We have all heard about the do's and the don't's. And yes, frankly there has been too much emphasis on the don't's. The world needs to know both what we are for and what we are against.

You make a good point. I don't think we can ignore sin but maybe, like you, spend most of the time talking of love - maybe a 70-30 ratio of love to sin would be good. I certainly haven't experienced even a 50-50 ratio in all my years of church-going.

Not a bad idea. What are you thinking?

I talk a lot about love, but I also find it necessary to talk about what not love is. People compare and contrast in thinking you see. Second talk about sin is important too especially since -- with a lot of relativism going around -- people are beginning to thing that what is sinful is actually good.

I'm glad you're speaking out about this. It is important for us to realize that being concerned with what is wrong creates more of what is wrong. One ounce of love is worth 10 pounds of fear. I have never sat in a church that did not spend its time focusing on what is going wrong. Perhaps we should begin taking the initiative ourselves. What do you think?

Thanks! I think too many people forget Yeshua's casting the first stone statement.

I agree with all of it. Church spends way too much time preaching fear instead of love.

Sannhet,
You said that right! Not just churches but individuals. People are quick to judge other people. It isn't our right or our place to judge, only God's. It's also easy for people to point the finger at others as if they never do anything wrong themselves. It brings to mind the words of Jesus, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Thanks for your very insightful post.
