Joe Love, a good start on time management is switching out of the rows here.

Word.smith, I'm trying to stay fit.

Go for it PatB. Yeah people don't always see the work it takes.

Thanks Military_Wife

Offbeats, it's a bit crazy right now so it is important to prioritize

Sassyass, yeah I try to do a bit of everything every day. Yes hubby keeps the household going but I need to get him onto bills too.

Masky, I love the paper plate analogy.

majroj this advice is exactly what I followed well at least for a day since you posted it.

Scritture, I often forego sleep but then my body screams at me and I sleep long and deep. Congratulations on your gig - is it writing about finance?

It was a good Partay!!! Schree`

MedusaNextDoor, i've gotta watch those ducks don't swim away....

Thanks Marshallengraved, I love parties.

Sending some rich chocolate dessert cake your way BrightIrish

Thanks AnnAndBenjamin, a few loyal readers make it worthwhile

RabbitFromtheWoods - chocolate makes a change from carrots I guess...

Yes MerryAnne, good tip - don't let the kids play with your optical mouse when you are on deadline.... ;-). I don't let them touch my computer.

QuirkyAlone "If you find a way to balance ten eggs in the air at once, please let me know." Funny you should mention eggs, the dessert had about that many eggs in it. To die for and over FAnd save some of that chocolate dessert for me too.

Joe Love, I know. Not easy when half the projects are as cruddy as each other ;-)

You wouldn't like my advise, Mayb . . ,
and, please understand that I would take my own advice!! lol But, it would seem to me that you need to write everything down on a list. . , take a good look at it. . , and figure out which things are not productive toward achieving your ultimate goal.

Basic time management, huh??

I know. I'm not very good at it myself. *grin*

MayB,

Do take care of yourself - rest, vitamins etc. You can't take care of the bills if your health is in jeopardy.

Way to go!
If you're making it to the market with your stuff -- maybe I'll do the same...  And it's not as though they just handed you something you hadn't worked your a** off for.  It's the old feast or famine thing... enjoy the feast.

MayB

Could you get any busier than you are right now? Geez woman, take a step back and try to relax a little. BTW... are you making enough chocolate for your Blogit community? YUM!!!

Its all about balancing
Don't spread yourself too thin, and balance a little bit each day. Is your hubby too busy to help pay some of those bills? I usually lock myself up in the computer room, and tell everybody to go away for a few hours. No phone calls, no questions, no homework, no nothing! Good luck.

MayB!

Ah, another person carrying around a paper plate that is full, bending from the weight of the kibbles placed upon it, over flowing with both vegetables and desserts.  And you'd like some tips in handling the weight of it all.  I giggle a bit, as I can relate.

1.)  Breathe Deeply

2.)  Eat your vegetables FIRST - even the one's that don't taste so good.  For the kibbles that don't taste so good I give you permission to chew with your mouth open, but chew quickly so that you don't have to taste them.

3.)  Enjoy the dessert, but save it for last or there won't be room in your belly for the important stuff.

Wishing you peace of mind and endurance!  Hang in there!

I would have advice for you, but I'm tired of being the pedant.

Which is pedantic in and of itself.

Well, anyway, pick the time of day you are most productive, and set one day's peak time aside just for PLANNING, minimum two hours. Tomorrow would be fine. Just have paper, calendar, and coffee or whatever available.

Write a description of each project and try to closely estmate the overall time requirements of each. Your projects are "sumitting their resumes" for your consideration.

Prioritize the projects without regard to their time requirements.

Then plan how to complete the most vital projects, the "must-do's". Skip the "really want to do's"

If you can't do them all, do the most important one(s), see if you can string out the next most-important. Your perspective changes frokm trying to please someone  by not asking for extensions, to telling them "I can do this for you, but I have prior commitments to honor, just as I will yours if anyone else requests my attentions, so here's my adjusted time frame".

If you have been groveling, skip these and just go right to alternating crank and heroin to alternatively find superhuman energy and then forget your anxiety.

The key is to shut up the voices in your head, look critically at the siutation, plan, then act.

If you bear down on the little jobs making up the huge tasks, hyou either suddenly find you're in the clear again, or have to admit you can't do it all and will find a way to salvage or escape.

You go !!!

I've recently scored a paid writing gig myself, and find that I'm having to juggle many many things (though, at least I don't have children in the mix), hence my only answer to "Anyone got any tips about how to do so many things at once?" would be: Forego sleep.

Hey, MayB...You are Super Mom and Super Writer....
Good for you, and there's nothing wrong with a little boasting. You've got your ducks in a row and things look great. How do you do it and with a family? I'm serious. I admire you. Best of luck!

mmmm chocolate!
Well MayB, the one thing that I have learned is that it is either feast or famine in the writing biz. I can have fantastically busy months and then months on end with nothing. I'm hoping to be busy again real soon - birthdays and christmas are coming up and the money would be very nice. I have no tips to offer except - don't let the kids play with your optical mouse when you are on deadline.... ;-)
