Great entry!! I think this may very well be my favorite that you have ever written.
When we went through a draught here (not having rain for about a month), I remember how it felt when we FINALLY got some storms. It was so refreshing and exhilerating. I can't imagine how dry everything must be in Iraq.

Ms. Military Wife...I learned a lot from your post...
and I loved how you described Carl's thirst for some much needed rain, his appreciation of being back on U.S. soil, and his simple delight of reclining on a green soft bed of grass. The words you chose were quite lovely and your post said a lot between the lines. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds so familiar...
When I moved from IL to CA I didn't think about it, but one year it drizzled snow out here. I was like a little kid, running out to play. I can just imagine the enjoyment Carl must have felt for the rain. Hey, if you run out of things to do, my house is in serious need of dusting.

Thanks for bringing that memory back to mind.

OK, dang it! There ya go again.....got me crying....but that's okay....I you know I never mind crying....especially for you and Carl. Why don't you catch some rainwater and send it to him? And send him my love and best wishes, too. And give yourself a hug.

My god, man!
I think I got a little misty...no pun intended. This is a great post and kudos to you for looking on the bright side...that can be difficult to do in times like these.

Midnight
I actually got to see him on webcam last night. He has to pay for it but 5.00 for an hour was worth EVERY penny in my book.
I will certainly pass your message along.

Wifey,
It's interesting to hear some of the things Carl has to put up with in Iraq and compare it to all we take for granted here at home. If you hear from him today tell him I said hi and Thank You for the job he is doing over there. Again, much love and hugs to both of you. Great post !!!!!!!
