I don't know about silly nicknames....
But, we very nearly called our dog "Cuddles" - the only thing that stopped me was my sister telling me how weird it would sound calling out for your dog down at the beach with that name!

Cute nicknames! The most mis-used name is "Baby". Baby for humans and cats alike. Lol.

Great names!
Rocky, look what you started!
Indigo (also Indigo Boy) becomes Indigozer, then Gozer (Ghostbusters!)
Rasputin naturally becomes Putin
Tarot is sometimes the Little Princess
Butterscotch is BS, Betterscotch, Butterball, Butterboy, Big Boy
They all become Sweet Kitty, Pussywillow, or that Damn Cat from time to time.

My white syrian has been called "Pig" by a friend and my roborovski is named "Robo" (that's silly enough) and in Chinese it sounded similar to carrot... so often Robo has been called carrot...

Rocky!
You've got it good, my friend! I happen to have fangs that are a ust a tiny bit longer than "normal". Mommy thinks they're "cute" and "handsome" because they're very "gleamy" against my black fur. Hey! They make me a good hunter, right? So why does my warden call me "toofy"? What's worse, she's turned it into "moofy-toofs!" "Hey, there, darling Moofy!", she sings when she picks me up in front of the neighbors!
The other one is "Scootie". I guess when I was little, I ran around the condo when mommy played with me. As if "Scootie" isn't bad enough, Mommy has made up a song that she sings (also sometimes in front of the neighbors!) that goes something like "He's a scooty-boot-boot, (then lower singing, as if by a background DJ boot, boot ...") Then a little louder, "He's a SCOOTYBOOTBOOT ... boot, boot.
Rocky, please tell your warden that when she's digging holes in the ground, I would like to rent one out for a couple of minutes for when she calls me "Moofy Toof" and sings the "Scooty Boot Boot" song in front of the neighbors. It's just down-right embarassing!
Love,
Your Pal Ollie
