- Go to The Cruel Wind of Divisiveness Blows Hard at Sheehan Rally
Thanks for the reads, everyone!
Debbie, what does Aspartame have to do with any of this?
fwmystic, thank you, I aim to excel. Would you please be so kind as to provide evidence for your theory that the GOB (sic) invented the politics of divisiveness? To paraphrase Forrest Gump's mother, divisive is as divisive does.
Justsouno, even more to the point, they are afraid of truth. Truth need never fear error, but error dreads being exposed by truth. Bring on those errors, liberals!
Flame, it's not her sincerity but her sanity that I doubt. I believe her grief cracked her.
Aeriel, mostly true. A few things are simple, but not many. It kills me to see simple truth denied by wildly convoluted gyrations of conspiracy theory and liberal spin.
Scoop, very interesting idea about the outcome of a Bush/Sheehan meeting. But somehow I think she would just keep raving away anyhow in her quest for air time.
xenox, see my comment on Justsouno's comment. As far as attendance goes, I think it's quite telling to see who wasn't at the Sheehan Show - all the other Democrats. They had the sense to stay far, far away from her.
As far as the couner-rally goes, does it occur to you that just maybe people like me who support the war are too busy with careers, family and other positive contributions to society to waste our time reliving the Sixties?

of course the supporters had a real rally didn't they?
about 450.
but you will blindly suipport Bush no matter what. this has been demonstrated time and time again -- odd.

WofL in the begining I supported her right to protest
and she is not alone there are other groups of mothers against war and even Iraqi Vets against the war.
But she went to far, Crawford to me was the breaking point and now this weekend, she has become a whacko and is surrounded by others not helping her cause and she has lost it.
As I wrote today I feel if Bush had met with her again, supposedly after she changed her stance against the war, she would have gone away and Bush would have looked great for doing so. JMO

Extreme political views inevitably lead to simplification of complex issues, and it seems to an outsider that Mrs Sheehan is being used a cynical focus for such views.
When one's political stance, and the opinions that stem from them, are unacceptably extreme for the moderate majority of people, they have to be framed in simplistic terms, and some clear focus has to be found for them. In this case the unfortunate pawn, Mrs Sheehan.
In politics, nothing is ever simple, and it's insulting to our intelligence to pretend otherwise.
And interesting post. Thank you.

A great write up. I do share in the pains of Mrs Shehaan, but what I can't understand is her desire to circumvent her pains into political gains. In this regard, I do doubt her sincerity of her mourning her son.

Brilliant spin ...
the GOB practicall invented the politics of divisiveness, and now they accuse the opposition of being unpatriotic and divisive. Brilliant. Too bad it no longer works.

I know. I hate him too. He's the reason that Aspartame isn't illegal. He'll rot in hell I'm sure.
