Unidentified Hacker,
Hmm, that explains a series of dreams that I had in my early twenties. I dreamt that I woke up in my room, but was oppressed by a weight pressing me down, a malevolent force. I fought with all my strength to sit up and eventually sat up, then began floating around the ceiling, I willed my limp arm to reach for the string to turn on the light, at which point, I was able to speak (my voice had been paralyzed, too). I usually recited a piece of the 23rd psalm (unusal for me, as I was not Christian), or shouted a friend's name or called for help. At that point, I was released, I fell in a heap to the floor and woke up (exhausted and terrified).
The dreams morphed over the next ten years until I was standing and fighting with a lamp to come on (it wouldn't), but I had more control.

My friend has sleep paralysis....she has this stuff going on.
I don't have it, but the brain injury mimics some of those things....I get too much REM sleep (which is what sleep paralysis in, in part I understand). My dreams keep going when I'm awake, in essense. I open my eyes and the dreams goes on. But, as far as spirits, etc....I don't believe that is a hallucination. That's when they come to us, just before or after sleep. That's what I'm told anyway. They knock on my damn window. ;) I'm so far behind on reading, I didn't realize how long you'd been gone. You okay...?

Hi Unidentified_Hacker
Hi, just letting you know that I also suffer from schizophrenia...no spiders though but still some voices. The meds have been helping me a lot but it took a while to get to the point where I'd take them. Have the meds been helping you? I hope to "see" you around. Good to know there's someone else on this site with schizophrenia.

It sometimes happens to me too...only this morning I thought I was awake
and getting ready for work, then the phone rang and I really woke up. Awesome stuff!! But it was quite good 'cause I'm actually on holidays so didn't need to go to work today...

I have this happen on occasion
No spiders but I can hear things that aren't really there. Sometimes good other times, enough to wake me up and make me nervous.

Yup. We got that.
I just consider it "falling asleep" or "waking up." I thought it was just part of being tired and not quite awake or asleep. Thankfully no spiders ever. If that starts now, believe me, you will be informed!
I think the classic example might be what everyone thinks of as dreaming they are already awake. Some of those seem awfully real and involve a lot of non visual hallucinations of a sort. Now you will tell me that's not the same probably, but it's maybe just the most mundane one - so mundane everyone accepts it. Oh and definitely the "hearing something when going to sleep." Ask my husband how many times I've bugged him. In my own defense, my 7 YO does it too! He insists he hears voices but we've narrowed that one down to the same thing - he's asleep or somewhere close to it.
(No honest, we aren't psychotic or schizophrenic, really! We no one has told me I am anyway. No I will not let you take over typing. Because I said so that's why. Sheesh. Where was I?)

I'm sort of here, but sort of not. I don't know how often I'll be writing for a while, but it's good to know I was missed =)

I thought they called that lucid sleeping...either way, I've experienced it
a couple of times, but not lately...I hate it when it happens because it seems soooo real!
Glad to see you back...I wondered what happened. Just read your previous posts and caught up.
