- Go to New DeLay Indictment a Return to Watergate?
Sccop, here's an excellent reply to that point you raised:
"It is central to the presumption of innocence, due process, and equal protection under the law that prosecutors owe even the most despicable offenders. It is foundational to the integrity of the system on which rest our security, our economy, and our freedoms." - Andrew McCarthy, National Review On-Line, see http://www.nationalreview.com/mccarthy/mccarthy200510060733.asp.

Thanks for reading!
Scoop, a very interesting point as always. You may have something there, but is it right for a district attorney to go so far off the deep end as to brag about how he's going to "get" somebody and then try to do so on totally false grounds? That strikes me as being the absolute opposite of what I stated, and far more dangerous to our rights and to the integrity of our legal system.
Corbin, I don't think the Marx Brothers could have concocted a plot as zany as this. If only it really were just a movie and not a real-life travesty of justice . . .

The movie on this will be called "Anatomy of a Witchhunt"
Let's break this down so a couple of our Liberal brethren here can give us a realistic explanation.....
1. The first grand jury refused to indict.
2. Working on its last day Friday, the second grand jury refused to indict DeLay.
3. Over the weekend Earle comes up with "new" evidence and take a different charge to a third grand on Monday.
And Earle called one of the juries that refused and did a poll of what they would have done had they had the "new" evidence....then proceeds to tell the third jury the results of the poll to encourage them to bring the indictment?
And they called Michael Jackson's prosecuting attorney an idiot....compared to Earle he's a genius.

I disagree with your description that "Prosecutors are supposed to be impartial and objective" that is the role of the judge. A prosecutors role is to bring defendants in criminal cases to justice.
So in Delays case let the justice work and take its course.
