Yes, I've done the same thing. I have a back problem (from being thrown from a horse, breaking my tailbone twice, and a couple of rollerblading falls). Ocassionally when I walk a sudden pain will shoot through my legs. It is so excruciating that it will drop my to my knees. The only way I can get back up is to concentrate on the color of the pain. It is usually black or deep purple. I concentrate on making it white and once it has turned completely white (within a minute or two), I can get up and walk without pain. It takes awhile for me to be able to stand up straight, but the pain is gone. The mind IS an amazing thing.

I was remembering a gall bladder attack I had in the spring of 2003. I was doubled over on the bed in agony, when I finally called my wife at work and told her to come home. She was about to wake up our son, so that we could go on to the hospital after she got home. Then I thought, 'Just tough it out.' I didn't want Sam to have to be at a hospital because of my decision to suffer. So, I straightened up and walked to the truck. I drove 18 miles to the ED. You know what? My pain was almost gone when I got there! The mind is an extraordinary instrument.

I think it applies to the body as well. One would need to be advanced enough to redirect the pain. There are many on the spiritual path who have mastered the ability to not feel pain - while still in their bodies.

I agree with this as a spirit, but in a body experiencing life and growing i think it is natural to experience pain and not have control ..Also if our being is love and happiness then to choose would seem to create and as we already are we experience it all. I think suffering can lead to a greater joy, in a sense of freedom.Or if you do not care at all for your body and you know nothing except what you are, then maybe you could be what you are,you would likely be the drunkest man on earth.I have a hard time seeing spiritual truths applied with the body.thanks for the post
