Tapsel,
Well the first CT scan, they took of the lower abdomen and not the chest. Someone had sent the wrong orders. He had to come back the following week and have one done on his chest. The results came back the following week and then they said he needed the PET scan. The results came back in another week and they have set up an appointment with the surgeon for October 28th!! Now, he is going in for a second opinion to another doctor. My sister is taking him around to the appointments and collecting the results and pictures. This is because of the incompetence of the office staffs. They sent the the wrong orders and have sent results to the wrong places, etc. We don't trust them. I meet Dad and Jean, my sister, at the appointments. This next appointment with the second doctor for the second opinion is this afternoon. If he thinks it is necessary to go ahead and do the surgery and can do it sooner than the first doctor, that's the way we'll go. Thanks for asking.

RAME, It is so hard to wait.   Wonder why they are so slow.

Tapsel,

Thanks.  I guess my celebration is going on.  My daughter is going to fix my birthday dinner this Sunday for the family.

It's hard to think about celebrating too much with all this going on with my dad.  He was diagnosed with cancer of the esphagus nearly a month ago.  He has been having CT scans and a PET scan.  Now, he is getting a second opinion and we are waiting for him to have his appointment with the first doctor and the surgeon.  It seems like they are wasting time with all this nonsense.  They now know it isn't as bad as they had originally feared but they are so slow about follow-up appointments and making arrangements that we worry it will spread before anything is done about the cancer in the first place.  Very frustrating.

RAME, I'm sorry that I missed your birthday with my best wishes.  But, if you are still celebrating, maybe Happy Birthday to you is still in order.

Thanks, word.smith.

I guess this whole week is going to be celebrating my birthday.  It's kind of neat and makes me feel like I'm loved even more by my family.   I am so thankful.

MiaElla, Quirkyalone, and Ariala,

Thanks for the birthday wishes.  I had a good time, though my birthday celebration is stretching out.  I will be spending time with my son, just the two of us, today which is something I haven't been able to do since before he moved to California. He moved back a few months ago but has been so busy, the two of us haven't been able to have any good, quality mom and son alone time.  My daughter, who is going to nursing school is planning on preparing my birthday celebration meal this coming Sunday, and Allen (my husband) and I spent some wonderful time together last night.  I guess I could just call this my celebration of life week.

Happy Birthday! Have a great time and don't do anything I wouldn't do (which gives you a bit of leeway), hehe.
