John McNab, these days the fact that you read may indicate being old and past it

MayB
According to one recent poll, the fact that I read a newspaper means I'm old and past it.

Tapsel-T, I think fame or infamy would be the worst. This is why I stay at the heavy end of journalism as I can't stand the sensationalism

Brisbane artist, this is what I'm saying. People take that seriously when there are far greater threats

MayB, It's a crazy world on the internet.   I'm glad that I'm not in the public eye and being written about by bloggers and media.

It is scarey and not
I guess that people are taking it seriously is a bit scarey but on the other hand people don't have to if they don't want to. It was the same with Propoganda in the old form. People were sucked in if they wanted to be, Jo

Timmy, the technology is only as reliable as those who use it and that
is scary

UsualSuspect, people forget how skew whiff the listings are and take them too seriously. At the university where I am studying they showed me Google Academic which they said is OK but it is their least preferred option.

I was just thinking about this the other day...especially how much people rely on Google to answer their every question, even though the answer may not be reliable. And I agree with Tim, it is getting scary. CB told me the other day that his ex-wife had googled my name...uh, psycho?

Oops...grounded.

MayB, your last sentence is the crux of the matter.

Access to the internet puts our thoughts, feelings and grievances in front of millions of other people - whether they are ground in fact or not.
