I actually dropped by because

I read your comment in Ariala's post that you lived in Spain -- and I got mixed up and commented to you there.  Spain!  We'd like to go there.

Oh, and I did appreciate your post.

I have to admit I rarely read the religious blogs so I can't really comment.

Ha!  In all seriousness, you raise a valid point.  As ambassadors for Christ we need to let our lights shine -- in all areas of life.

Ariel,
It probably is more a reflection of the appalling state of literacy in the US as a whole, than a reflection on any one group.

Ariel,

I think its because the majority of christians, especially if they start their convictions in elementary school, are programmed against a good formal education unless they are pushed toward the college ministry. They do need some intelligent enough people to con the hordes. I grew up forced into attending church and the emphasis was learning to read and memorize the bible, not spell, so you could convert, convert, convert, especially here in the south. Christians are like any other formal group of religious fractions. Keep the majority dumb enough and you will keep their loyalty. High school is more than enough and if you can train your child to ignore any anti-christian type literature and science being taught in school, the better. I was home schooled by college professors because of the dog shows. The more educated and open minded people are, the quicker they will leave the church behind. Most still do not give up a belief in God, I haven't, but the christian community does not play any major role in my life. I only attend now mainly to keep the peace with my remaining family, most who never finished high school, and couldn't write a full sentence if asked. Shadow

In Response To Your Response

The information I quoted from the recent email received regarding the quote from a Caucasian writer did not come from long ago, that quote was written "today".  He made the RECENT QUOTE that "Blacks or still our Slaves".  Which OUR did you think he was speaking of ?  Also there was a recent quote and I was a witness of this statement coming from Headline news.  This commentator recently state that if all babies of single African American women were aborted there would be lower crime rate in America.  How about also the fact that all the African American women that have gone missing have received very little exposure in comparison to the Caucasian females who when come up missing are widely notarized and can go on being nationally recognized for years.  Do you know what the answer to why this happened was when Dateline aired this story?  The answer was  there was very little interest of African American woman missing as it more popular for the "Blonde Haired Blue-eye Heroin"  which fit the mold of what was sought after for a sensationalized media  story.   This quote wasn't from the era of slavery either this was stated within and the the more recent months.  So feeling you have that you might be paying for the history of decades ago doesn't come from me.  This is a statement you made.  Whether you want to face up to it or not.  These type attitudes and mentalities or still very real today.  This has nothing to do with victimization this has to do with hard facts and the ignorance on the part of those who TODAY perpetuate this attitudes, not yesterday.
