yes, the oracle must be willing. In this case she had a relationship with him prior to the channeling. As I understand it, he was a sort of spiritual guide for her.

It makes sense that a spirit would use a human to communicate, but one's mind would have to be subject to receiving it. Obviously Sameuel chose your friend because the mind was receptive to him. It's really an interesting topic to explore. I have read a lot about such things and it is always a good read!!

My thoughts on this
have always been as human beings we tend to not believe what we see sometimes. I think we have to be open to seeing before that is even possible. Maybe there is also the point of the familiar making it safe for us.
