That's one nice thing to be said of Blogit. For some of us, we wouldn't be writing if not for this place.

RabbitFromtheWoods even if it doesn't come out in a book it doesn't matter. it is not a "silly little website" but something that you created where there was nothing.

Avant-garde , thank you

writersjourney. if we don't take a chance I think we regret it. I find that many of the successful people I know or know about in publishing don't wait for permission.

Tapsel-T, thank you. You have made this start I believe.

masky, thank you. your output here is pretty prolific compared to mine so it surprised me when you said you didn't want to burn yourself out! Imagine your output if you did.

anthony1wiley you're welcome

Thanks for the Inspiration, MayB
A friend of mine is a graphic artist. He started trying to publish his own work and sell it to local stores -- he even set up a publishing company before he knew about the IRS and lawsuits from comic book companies who would go after a kid in High School for infringing on their copyright. The long of the short of it is, he got through it all and his career is fairly successful at this stage, and still climbing. What I learned from him is that you have to take a chance, even while you still don't even know what you are doing. Like you said, an imperfect start is better than no start at all.

Start ups are so exciting
I've launched 3 newspapers and a magazine. There is absolutely nothing like it.  Dispair, thrills, terror, etc.  I'd do it all again tomorrow.

This is good, MayB.  You are so right.

MayB...I wasn't sure whether you'd find your way back to the post

I wrote where you felt as I were slamming you.  I have left a comment there for you to read.

You offer great perspectives and lessons on writing at a professional level.  As I stated, I am enrolled in several writing courses and am reading several books associated with getting published, technacalities associated with writing, editing...blah blah blah.  I know it's important to learn, but I so ache to be done with the bulk of the courses.  I'd much rather be writing to my heart's content.  Anyways...I do post alot of water cooler topics.  I do post alot of "ahhh, who needs it" conversation.  However, what I don't post is my fiction pieces.  These pieces (and this artform) are the dearest to my heart.  These are the stories I work my hardest on and where I focus my efforts and truly apply all lessons I've learned.  I won't post them here as I simply don't want to burn myself out.  Instead, I want to submit them for publication, eventually, when I have edited and ended them for the last time.

With that said, this place is an escape; a place to release; a place to get to know people; a place to let it all hang out (typos and all) without feeling so dang technical.  I wonder if this is a cause for people to not take my writing seriously, but then again, it still affords me the opportunity to write and release.  That's the spot I've found here!

>;-} Mayb! Thanks so much for these encouraging words today!
I have what I call a 'silly little website' that I have been working on for two years now. I knew I couldn't just 'come up with' the 'finished' product, but didn't really care. I figure, hey while I'm in this 'icky'  stage, not too many folks are even going to know its there anyhow. Same with my blogit 'project' , and certain other endeavours. It was good to hear these words this morning. I keep saying that one of these days I will write a book, or two... I'm sure it's there and when the time is 'right' it will find its way out.
