That's not right...

When the ice storm hit southern Kansas and the northern half of Oklahoma, my family was without power for about a week and a half.  Some were without power for a month or more.

The state(?) or someone issued food stamps to EVERYONE, not just food stamp recipients.  Although I could have gotten the stamps, I didn't as we had a generator to keep our fridge going.  The fact that it was February helped a lot where the food was concerned.

Because they are...poor?

Good to hear you are back on the grid! I have still heard nada about it, although there was a caller on  a NPR show who mentioned it. A major U.S. city losing power for 1.5 weeks is big news to me! They said they would have Bagdhad back up faster than that!

Hrmmm...

While I do agree with Whim about the children, I also agree with Mum.  Everyone should get SOMETHING.  I mean look at Mum.  She has children, is a single mommy, and struggles to take care of her family.  Yet just because she isn't receiving food stamps, she doesn't get any help at all.  And think of her children!

There are tons of families, I am sure, who are like Mum--families with children and who struggle to make ends meet even on good days, not to mention on days like these when they have lost so much.

Everyone in Memphis deserves all the help they can get.  Everyone!

Think About the Children

Afraid that is as good as I can come up with.  Although, I imagine most of the food pantries in the area have covered that area. . .it still has to be the primarly reason behind the decision.
