The Power Of Prayer?
As many of you know, while I have my own beliefs about "God," I am not particularly religious. I have, however, been praying for Mum (and the rest of Memphis) each and every day since I first read that she was without power.
Last night I did not do this since I had read that Mummy had her power back.
And now the power is gone again.
Any connection?
I'm sorry EditorMum! I'll be praying again!

It wouldn't be so bad...
if I did live in Mayberry. I live in a major metropolitan area with a population of about one million: Memphis, Tennessee. It's risible that a city this size cannot do a better job of restoring the infrastructure and of removing the debris. The tree limbs and other storm-generated litter along the streets are beginning to create both traffic and pedestrian hazards, yet I have seen little sign of efforts to remove it. I suppose they are still using the trucks and claw-lifts to clear debris from areas that are still without power; however, I should think that they could spare three or four trucks to begin clearing the debris from sidewalks, curbs, and gutters throughout the city.
It would also not be so bad if it were winter. I can add blankets, socks, and layers of clothing if I am cold. There's only so much you can take off if you're too hot. I can't exactly go around naked. It would create a serious epidemic of vomiting, which would present problems because it's so hot that the smell would saturate the city's air. Also, in winter, I could have put all my food out on the back porch and it would have been fine; instead, it rotted in the fridge and in the garbage cans.

had it tough, I feel sorry for you. Where do you live, Mayberry RFD? I bet one thing though, your power bill will arrive on time!

Just keep telling yourself,
"At least it isn't winter and -20 degrees." It is little comfort but better than nothing.
Hang in there, it can't last forever. Things have to return to normal eventually.
Why isn't daddy helping with the kids? Does he have power?
