You're right, I am shy, but people know this. They also know that I will help them whenever they need me so I think my mode of operating is understood and supported by those with brains. Thanks for reading.

OFFBEATS
Thanks for your comment. I don't enjoy office parties but am proud to say that, out of the last seventeen Christmas 'Parties' I've only missed two (including this year's). I used to feign illness, insanity and any other word I couldn't spell or understand in order to avoid the same kinds of organized events at school.

We all need people, but your right, it's the right kind of people. I know I have a lot of friends... but I have only a few really good friends. You know the kind that will stick by no matter what? Others are fun to be around, but like you, I am very happy when I am by myself with a good book, or a good movie! The office lunch always reminded me of a "cluck' fest...the conversations were pretty darn petty for the most part!

You're human, so you will yearn for companionship sometimes.
It could be that you are shy and your co-workers see this as aloofness. I don't know, but anyway, I don't think humans are meant to travel in packs - although some of us do tend to associate with others just to belong to a group.
I don't have many friends and at my age, I'd think it strange to be running around with a group of other females. To each his own I guess.
