Mayb,
You took the extra step of initating the contact with the other spa-goer, using the therapist as the liasion. Therein lies the difference between an idea and a plan, I think.

MayB, How interesting it is when you can't help but eavesdrop. It is especially fun for some reason when there are curtains involved. It gets the writing juices flowing.

I could do with some nice beauty treatment or a massage right now. Hmmm once I've paid off that lingering wisdome teeth bill I will have to spoil myself.

What a stroke of luck!
Can you believe you're just relaxing there, minding your own business, and suddenly a piece of your story just falls into your lap! Congrats! And, hope things go well with your interview!

MayB,
This brought back the time when I was seeing the therapist for my back earlier this year. There was a man - I never knew what he looked like - but he always had such interesting tales to tell the therapist when he was being treated next door. The most vivid tale I remember the therapist sharing with him was of a woman who had gone and jumped off the causeway for love of a man. I do agree that if we keep our ears open....that's a really nice break for you, that she would agree to be interviewed.

I wonder whether it would be possible for you to read an article on Out sourcing that I am going to send/post tomorrow. It is a follow up to a series on the WTO meetings scheduled for Hong Kong. I am defending free trade that,I think is the only remedy that could lift large parts of the world out of poverty. Because of your objective and interligent critics, I really want you to have a look. If you can, you could also read the first part, which I filed before the God Bless Germany stuff. While expecting that you shall, once again accept my profound respect.
God Bless,
FT.

I do always like to get your reactions. You are right to point out honestly the passionate aspects of some of my articles. However, time won't play on my side should I spend time bringing on board the other side of the coin. For example, I do think that, Mr Shroeder's party got some seats or drew some popularity because of his populist stands and not because he was good in governance. Look at the data, since he came to power everything went red. I have been travelling to Germany and I can assure you that everybody, especially the creators of jobs wanted him to go.Of course as a good campaigner he managed to come back.As for Merkel, let us give her some time and see the stuff she is made of. I can assure you that,if she does not deliver which is predictable she will get a whacking.I must point out that,I like your honesty and open mind to all opinions. Warmest Regards

Good point May
I jot down notes of people and happenings quite often but I usually feel there aren't enough interesting twists or messages to develop further. Maybe it's just me or maybe I'm in a boring place and time.;)

Great post MayB
as you say, stories are waiting to be told or reconstructed or imagined everwhere. No-one and nothing is boring - for writers that is a redundant concept.

Brisbane artist, now you are reminding me of my tow truck story. Thank you. Yes it's true that when we are pushed out of our ruts we see things.
I used to live in the city and catch trains and buses and then you see and hear a lot.

My brakes failed on the van
and so I had to go with the tow truck....there was a story...just listening to the stuff on the radio and the to and fro of the smash attendants
then I had to catch the train ....there was a story just looking at the hangovers and the still not sober yets
I could go on but more happened in my life since I had to get out amongst the world.
I am surprised how sheltered I am by the fact that I just get in the van and go straight to where I am going without seeing what happens around.
Not that I want to do that everyday mind you.

MayB
I've always felt this way to a certain extent, but moreso since I began blogging. Each time I leave my home I listen and watch for little events, however minor, which might remind me of a story to write about. Another thing I enjoy is catching conversations, as you did, but also just snippets of conversations from people I pass on the sidewalk. I've been collecting interesting ones and, one of these days, I'll put myself through the exercise of trying to create a small story around a snippet. It can be fun. Hopefully, in your case, it will be profitable.

I know what you mean. I'm an unapoligetic people-watcher. How they dress, how they move, the things they do with their hands. I study they way they act around others. I can watch a man and woman together and more often than not, tell if their just friends, out on a first date, or have been together for years without hearing a conversation. I lock all of this information away in my head and when I'm writing, I retrieve it, painting these little significant details on them for that extra touch of realism I hope brings them to life.
