Thank you for reading. I do know what you mean. I find myself fixing time limits which is working quite well (so far)

Thanks for reading. Actually, so far, it is even better for us because, as a family, we are online for a set period of time and then we all logout and do other things together. I think this is better than someone always being online and thus out of the family loop. It has helped us to plan our time better and, asyou know, there is never enough time to begin with!

Thanks MayB
I do see it as an opportunity not a problem at this stage and think it will be a part of all of our childrens' lives so am encouraging them to engage in what I think are the right ways to go forward, as with everything else.

Thanks for reading. Yes, we monitor everything our children do online very closely, but we also encourage them to explore.

Thanks for reading. Perhaps you're right and it is a compulsion. I do know that he is thoroughly enjoying being able to express himself and receive thoughts and ideas in return - just like me here.

Thanks for this. Safety and security are key, as you say. This is the first site I've felt able to let him enjoy in this way.

There are healthy addictions, you know. Or should I say compulsions.

I always worry about kids and the net
But somehow I doubt you will allow him to be to free on the net.

That's kind of funny that you don't want your son to go down the slippery slope that you have. I'm the same.

The family that is online seldom has enough time to spend together offline.

You're right to watch it--the web can be so addictive---for me, it's a daily battle...sometimes I win and other times I end up spending copious amounts of time with my face glued to my screen--mostly on Blogit...lol.
