I agree about the environment - our children have had the same stimuli and support.

Children are different.
I have a 30 year old son who is bright, successfull and cheap. My daugher who is 28 is bright, not successsful yet, but would give you whatever she had if she thought it would help.M son takes after his mother. They are both wonderful people but each in a different way. Environment has nothing to do with it. It's in the genes.

Thanks, yes we do pick out different aspects of both ourselves and our parents and our parents' parents!

Thanks BlancheDubois
for your comment. By the way, good to know you're a Python fan. This insightful fan introduced their manic humour to our eldest son a couple of years ago. He hasn't looked back!

Thanks OFFBEATS
Isn't it interesting though how some characteristics just skip one child and pass into another?

I believe your right... I have 3 children, each different, each the same, all wonderful!! You on to something here!!

Malcolm,
I don't think any parent would say that their kid was a tabula rasa when they were born, every one seems born with a unique personality. It must take an insightful parent to let that personality blossom according to his or her potential.

God is good.
I marvel every time I look at my son. He is such a classic combination of my husband and I.   I guess that is exactly what you see in your kids.

All of my kids are different. I have boy/girl twins that look like nothing more than brother and sister and each is completley different

You're so right - it's truly magical and the real essence of why we ourselves were made. Thanks for your comment.
