Well,

we wouldn't want to invade all of them.....just wait, until the Frenchies split and annex what's left.  That's the part with all the oil, gas, and fresh water anyway.  Then we can build pipelines to bring the oil,  gas and especially the water down to make even more of the southwest bloom with golf courses and homes with in ground pools.

Homesteading can be used to gradually Americanize the annexed provinces.  Sending thousands of Americans northward with the promise of say 400 acres each.

With Canada'a wheat production we could then form TOWP "The Only Wheat Producing Country"  Our slogan would be "You Gotta Eat.  We explain to the OPEC countries that we'll trade a bushel of wheat for a barrel of oil.  Fair enought to make up for some of the OPECish gouging that has been going on for decades.

Yep, that'll work........

Or we could invade them
and establish the kind of government we prefer.

Let the Quebecois (however the heck you spell that, pardon my French) secede from Canada and become their own little miserable country.  I don't think it would take long for them to self destruct and beg to become part of Canada again.  I pray America is not dumb enough to admit them to the Union.

Western Canadians played a large part in helping usher in the current Liberal dynasty when they were suckered by Trudeau's so-called charisma.  It didn't take long for disillusionment to set in, however, and Liberals have spent much of the last few decades either completely shut out of the west or there only in small numbers.  The author of that excerpt you've placed in your comment is hitting some nails on the head, in my estimation.  It's difficult to know what would become of the Maritimes and the Prairies, but I believe we in Alberta and B.C. could go it alone.  Quebec and, yes, Ontario, would suffer the most.  Quebec would no longer be the recipient of funds funnelled to it from the rest of Canada.  I don't believe, with all its industry and its north-south ties, that Ontario would crumble to dust, but it would be greatly weakened.  Perhaps, at first, the various chunks of what used to be Canada would be "in shock" and suffer, but could possibly recover through continued trade and cooperation.   I would prefer to see Canada remain together, but a million things would need to improve.    Yes, please send money to Harper...lol   If the Liberals win this next election....well....things may get interesting.

Has the western half of Canada been at odds with the Central government since the Liberal party took over?  The author noted that this would have the greatest impact on Ontario.......

If Quebec were to separate, this would isolate the four Atlantic provinces from the rest of Canada, certainly a reversal but not a disaster. For the four western provinces, the economic consequences of a Quebec departure would be minimal, for Alberta and British Columbia probably even beneficial. But for Ontario generally, and Toronto particularly, the partial breakup of Canada would be an unimaginable disaster. The central pillar of Ontario 's economy has been its role as the country's financial and economic center. If Canada began to break up, this role would begin to disintegrate and Ontario's economic ascendancy along with it.

I don't know that it will impact us that much, but the thought of the French coming across our borders scares me more than the current illegal immigrants..Of course historically, and maybe it is genetic, the French have always had a tendency to run!

Good post.  Canada spent its first 100 years as a wonderful, solid, wealthy, honest democracy.  Then Pierre Trudeau got his hands on the controls and we've been going downhill ever since.  The Liberal Government, for decades now, has been crooked as a dog's back leg and has alienated the west.  The threat of Quebec separation, may gradually be overtaken by the threat of separation (discussed more and more here) by Alberta and British Columbia, who have the economies, population base, major seaport and the anger to go it alone, instead of being sucked dry for equalization payments to appease Quebec, the home province for most of the power holders in the Federal Government.
