But you've come upon what I see as the first necessary step.....
in the process of invention. See my two part post near the top of my fiction column. I should have opened a Journal column but I'm there now. I started with some fiction stories, I guess that's why.
Anyways the stuff you speak of in your post is the mental framework vital to framing the proper question so that one may solve a problem. First we notice something is awry and then we seek a remedy.
Yes we may try transference as a first step out of the box, but we quickly see what we have done and now we can look back at the box from a different perspective. This helps us to find a solution, simply because we have been lured away by a distraction in transference.
