I'm looking to simplify as well. It's tough, but it can be done.

I read Gome's post before I wrote this. We are saying the same thing basically. And it is all about filling the hole.

t feels better when you already feel replete
I have thought a lot about this
I am at the stage of decluttering and just living simply.
I have everything I want plus more and so I am still getting rid of the excesss and finding ways to reuse the old.
Thanks your work is always thought provoking,
Jo

during this season this is apropos
Gomedome addressed basically the same issue.
people want --
actually gluttony is not so much of a sin (disease) as it is a symptom.
the disease is emptiness.
people look to fill up that huge empty space inside of them. It's not just overconsumption of food -- it's amassing of wealth and possessions, and changing the appearance.
and it manifests itself in taking from other people -- not material things, but elements of the person, the psyche, etc.
in order for a person to feel good about him/her self, he/she almost automatically degrades others -- tears the psyche out of others -- and this becomes a cyle, repeated.
that also is a form of gluttony.
we should look to help fill the emptiness.
