One of the gotchas of democracy
is that it assumes that people are intelligent enough to think for themselves.  If the same candidate comes back with a differently worded campaign, democracy trusts the voters can see through it.  Democracy also trusts the masses to take action if the believe all candidates are crooks.  That's why there is always the option to vote for 'no confidence' and further, the option to encourage others to do the same.

RAME, It is interesting to me to read your posts about Catholicism.    My mother's family was all Catholic but when my Mom and Dad married, she joined the Baptist Church so that she and my Dad could worship together.   I was never in a Catholic Church until I went to the funeral of my Grandma Jelinek.   Everything seemed so strange to me at that funeral.   Of course, I have read much about it since then, but it continues to interest me when a person who is a Catholic believer writes about their faith.
