Nice.
I want to go to Morocco and Spain someday, especially Cordoba.  Funny you should mention the Spanish Civil War; I'm teaching "Animal Farm" right now by George Orwell, who fought in the Spanish Civil War for the Nationalists, which was composed of many different leftist factions.  He fought with POUM, the Trotskyites, and he recorded his experiences in "Homage to Catalonia."

l enjoy your travelog-type posts. This one reminds me of what my friend told me about a place called Culloden. He said it felt haunted. l had never heard of it. So much history and only one lifetime to ponder all of it.

Ariel70,

The railway over a field of death, even if "one" (meaning you, I assume) is not superstitious, I can't help but feel, like you, that such a terrible, dark bloodletting leaves a psychic imprint.  Somehow, I think in remembering them and recording their history, those casualties of war, you may be helping to put them to rest.  No good comes of ignoring the past, it only comes full circle, the truth is liberating, even if painful.

Rest, regain your strength, dear Ariel, and keep these blogs coming.
