I loved your last sentance: We eschew the discussion of the person and seek the Christ. That sums it up beautifully.

No need to erase the comment. It was my first reaction as well. But upon further reading, I can see their point. I don't know that I believe it, but I can see it.

Yes, the two key point: love and the divinity within. Therein lies the totality.

Ah, the eternal debate rages on. Thank God I live in a nation of free speech, etc. so that I can exercise my right to believe in what I choose (and I choose the Divine Light), and let others believe what they choose. You are absolutely correct -- it doesn't matter whether or not there is "proof" of existence -- the Divine exists. Of course, you'll get a quote from me, so here it is: "Bidden or not bidden, God is Present." (from whom, I'm not sure, but I love the quote).

lots of people didn't exist
that existed nevertheless.
It's interesting in the gospel reading for the 15th of Jan.
Nathaniel, a Galilean, asks, "What good can come out of Nazareth?" -- and later, in Acts, people ask, "What good can come out of Galilee?"
Nazareth was pretty well at the bottom of the respect ladder back then -- so I would suppose that not much attention was given to it.
But . . .
If you decide to discard the medieval notion of "Son of God", divine from birth and perfect, and discover the personality there, you should come to the conclusion that there is a real personthere, very human, and doing very human things.
Some things that he does, as related in the Gospels, are definitely sins. Look for them.
The Jesus of the medieval church and christianosity today certainly did NOT exist.
But I do believe that Yeshua the Nazarene did (possibility as more than one person [?] {blasphemy!!!!}).
Of course, whether or not the person existed, the Christ that was preached (not a personage) did and does. We eschew the discussion of the person and seek the Christ.

Wow, what a bunch of BS these people have come up with, but I guess
the four gospels aren't enough proof for some...sad
