i'm thinkig of Robt Mitchum
and his L - O - V - E tatooed on one hand and H - A - T - E tatooed on the other and his little "sermon" about them struggling with each other and finally love wins out
I see it as the tares sown among the wheat -- we sort these things out as things ripen in order for us to so do -- we all are always an admixtrue of love and hate -- those of higher conscoiusness seek to recognize where we love and where we hate and make effort to replace the hate with love.
