Good to hear from you! You pose a good question. I don't think anything is random, so your explanations would work. And if that is true, then there really would be no innocent person involved. The "contract" if you will, is fulfilled.

I believe there are no accidents: everything serves a purpose, but we must find meaning and not shrink from experiencing it. Good post.

Sannhet...

I believe as you, that we as our soul choose our time to die, or return home as I like to say.  However I sometimes think another person may take your choice away.  For example, say some innocent person is randomly selected and murdered.  You could look at it as a contract that these two persons made to complete their karmic cycle together from a past life.  Or, it could be the beginning of karma because that soul took another soul's physical life before its time.  Hmmmmm....what do you think about that?

Several of my New Age friends believe that...I do believe there is an
appointed time for many things, but I don't believe I consciously chose it before birth, but I can't prove that to anyone anymore than they can prove the other to me.
