I think you both are right. There are so many different facets to compassion that any opportunity to learn is good. Thanks for stopping by and reading.

I do think it has something to do with learning more on unconditional love, like you suggested. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the suggestion my friend.

I fought with the whole "enabling" thing to, but came to the conclusion that since I can't possibly know what a person is supposed to learn or how they are to learn it, my offering "love" can't be bad.

I did the search and found the quote you used. It's by Richard Bach, one of my favorite authors. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks. I do believe that everything happens for a reason, but choosing things to learn before we are born, I'm still thinking on.

Sannhet -- I would agree with Rcky... it seems as if this is a further
opportunity to recognise your capacity for compassion.

Great post. Perhaps they are your teachers in regard to unconditional love. There are many reasons to be guarded and defensive with each of them, to feel secure. I am struggling with this right now, so it hits home very well.

Sannhet....
I still don't understand why things happen in cycles in our life. Years ago I thought I was blessed because I had experienced little loss in my life. Then bam....my mother died three days before 9-11 and I was unable to attend her funeral (in NY) and then within the next ten months six more family members and friends died, and my beloved cat! I am still reeling from that and I can't find any reason other than life's natural cycle.
Now as far as people always looking to you and your wife for a place to stay or a helping hand, says a lot about you. They know that you are a compassionate, warm and loving person, even if they do not realize that consciously. I have the same situation - people all through my life have always stayed with my family when they needed a home, and my door was always open. Sometimes I felt like an enabler because if it weren't for me they would HAVE to get their shit together, but I could not throw them out. These people that counted on us for help knew that we would never turn them away regardless of the situation. We can take them in and try to help them get their life together. When I help someone I feel wonderful! How does it make you feel? What we do to help others says a lot about who we are, and you Sannhet seem to be a wonderful, kind and gentle soul....and it appears the words out!! Many Blessing to you!

I came across a piece that started with "Everything has a reason" and I
agree with you on that. In fact, I posted it on one of my blogs. If you do a search on"Everything reason", I'm sure you will get it

sannhet, sounds like there are many things pressing in right now. I like
your attitude. Despite whether or not we believe everything happens for a reason, the way we react to it is what determines our inner health and peace.
