- Go to Entry #210: Even more thoughts on abortion
Your ideas are very sound - I like the idea, personally, of having more social services and child care available to moms. Most all moms - whether they work outside the home or are stay-at-home moms, whether they are single or in a committed relationship - need a respite every now and again. Child-rearing isn't easy even if a mom is in an ideal situation (for example, in a committed relationship with the father of the baby, or perhaps with a life partner of another sort). Having been at one end of the adoption triangle myself, there are services I wish were available to me 26 years ago when I was pregnant and single. Until these things happen - until we see a world where moms are truly supported, no matter what their relationship status is or how they got pregnant - we will have abortion, whether I like the idea or not.

kidny--I just can't believe that more people haven't commented on
your posts or attempted to argue with you.
But let me leave my two cents...
I also agree that abortion should not be as readily available. HOWEVER, until we can manufacture a society that is supportive in everyway (from social services, to child care, to adoption services, etc...) of an abortion-free environment, then it won't be possible. In other words? I see abortion as a symptom of a major sociological disease in this country.
Very frank post. I like that. And I also like that you lay your opinions on the table without name calling.
