Thanks, Corbin!
Nor have we heard much about the Communist Chinese providing P & O/DPW style services in the ports of Oakland and Long Beach. Given Bubba's fondness for Communist China, it should be no surprise.

Welcome, Jack Flash!
Good to hear from another recovering liberal! I think the left hasn't so much "dumped idealism into the trash" as they have perverted it. The still have their ideals, but they are grossly misdirected and stilted. See today's post for more discussion.

WofL I don't think Halliburton is a bad company they have been around
a long time and can get things done, I think the questions about Halliburton and Brown and Root were raised over the connection to Cheney and the way some contracts were handled. Schumer is different that is for sure but I am glad to see him push this, in New York like I have said before he has done a lot for the upstate farmers much more then Ms. Senator bitch face has.

Writer......
the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA - owned by the Saudi government and Saudi individuals) has operated terminals for years at the ports of Baltimore, New Orleans, Houston, Savannah, Newark, and Brooklyn.
Why haven't we heard anything about that?

WoL,
It is a pleasure to see an informed opinion on the ports issue.
The thing that I consider to be most hypocritical about the ''liberals'' on this issue is their blatant display of discrimination. ''We can't turn our ports over to our Moslem enemies!'' If that isn't a blatant display of generalizing, discrimination, perhaps we need to change all of our dictionaries and encyclopedias.
I was a Democrat and a Liberal, until people who proclaim themselves to be those things lost sight of the true meaning of discrimination. Few people really seem to understand it, whether liberal or conservative, but the turnabout of the Democrats, since the days of the Civil Rights movement, has literally sickened me. They have dumped idealism into the trash and taken up swords to battle conservatives, using any dirty tactics that they can find.

Writer,
Another great post and Schumer is another example of the left just going bonkers and losing it.

M.P.O.
You can count this conservative in with the bunch that thinks Bush is doing a great job. I really don't give a rats ass about what the left thinks. They only want whats bad for the US anyway, like for us to lose in Iraq. The US has to do bad in things for the left to be happy and that is not going to happen.

Welcome, MPO!
Thanks for reading. I think that as a rule Bush he gets what can be called quailfied, or perhaps reserved, support. He has angered conservatives, including me, with his positions on spending, border security and making accomodations for the Democrats (as witnessed by letting Ted Kennedy of all people develop the "No-Child-Left-Behind" fiasco. Indeed, "Reaganite economist" Bruce Bartlett is likening him to Nixon (see http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/3/4/205921.shtml?s=ic)
But he gets the support of conservatives for being a godly, principled man of honor and integrity who has the guts to stand up for his country and defend it. The same could not be said of his predecessor. And he is infinitely better than either of the "alternatives."

Are you under the impression that conservative thinkers actually believe the President has done a "good job"?
Because, that certainly isn't the sense I get. Seems to me, they merely feel Bush "beats the alternative".
I say this, as someone whose family are staunch Republican "supporters".
