J-Mum,
I'd actually pay top dollar to get "my life back" if I could! It's been a long haul these days and I'm SO OVER IT! Was I a murderer or rapist in a past life or sumptin'?

Spitfire,
I'll go google something and get back to you on "cupping" but you remember those old Japanese glass fishing floats (that is, if they still wash up on the beaches and get sold as souvenirs), then you have a good picture of what a "cup" looks like, only cut in half, so they're more hemispheric.
The acupuncturist holds tongs with burning cotton soaked in alcohol inside the cup to heat so as to create a suction when it makes contact with skin, in this case, back muscle, those two long muscles along the spine, whatever they are.
After the cup makes contact, it'll kind of "pop" and make a seal, not painful, really. They'll usually put 2 or 3 cups on each side of the spine (about 4-6) total, then leave them for a few minutes while you relax and try to rest. After a few minutes, they'll come back and move the cups (with oil on the skin, they're easily moved up and down). After one treatment, if you can, it's best to sleep. I've been cured of a bad back sprain more than once that way.

Blanche,
This is the first time I've heard about "cupping!" Do you have any links to info about it? I've been thinking about acupuncture, but this also sounds like an avenue to consider! Thanks for the tip! I'm willing to try anything at this point!

Spitfire,
I know you're in the middle of a lot of activity right now, but if there's anyway you could get to an acupuncturist, or get them to make a house call (even better), there's a technique called "cupping", wiith glass cups, which they heat and apply to the back muscles to form a suction. It may sound uncomfortable, but I've had terrific success with it when I was studying acupuncture and on myself when I had sprained my back. After treatment and a nap, I felt like a new woman. I swear it works. In the meantime, I hope you got some kickass painkillers.

I already wrote about stumbling out one morning
in my ratty shorts and wifebeater, only to find myself in the middle of a new bride's photo shoot on my front porch.
Sorry about your back, though -- backs are tough to deal with. About all I know to do is use ice first, then heat, and sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees.

Lol
How funny. I had a panty incident myself not too long ago. I came out of my bedroom upstairs where you would think its safe, buttttttttt nnnnoooooooo, my daughter had let two of her friends in and they were headed upstairs to listen to music in her room. My daughter had no clue that I was not properly dressed, and neither did her two teenage male friends. All I heard was :"Holy shit" and they bolted back downstairs.

Thanks for the advice! I'll take anything I can get at this point! I did try ice at first and then changed to heat. Oh, Man, this is the worst it's ever been!

funny story!
Say, one thing I've learned about back trouble is that soft ice packs are better than heat- heat feels good and relaxed the muscles but it adds to the inflammation. Soft ice numbs the pain centers and reduces inflammation- Just a suggestion...
