Malcolm,

I haven't been back to my hometown in about 10 years or more, and I hear from family that the development makes it almost unrecognizable. Like you, I spent my childhood in dreamy introversion and somewhat submerged by the anxieties of the future, as well as family discord.  So, I think I'll stay away, there's no one to visit there, really.

I look forward to a much more interesting future.  It's always interesting to question what might have been, but something led you to leave, so you would not beocme one of those regular anoraks at the local ball games.  It just wasn't you.  Best wishes with your father in law.

Thanks. The city has some interesting parts both new and old. The cathedral is especially spectacular!

Many thanks for this. I did have Coast Comedian's address and have been in touch but I appreciate your offer.

I also understand how you feel. I havn't visited my hometown in many years. I was close to it a few years ago and decided against the visit, perhaps I didn't want to view the changes. I liked when you said that you wanted to see the postcards. On another note: I heard from Coast Comedian and he asked that I tell you to email him because he has lost many email address and wants to keep in touch with you. If you've lost his email address.. just let me know and I will give it to you. Take care, my friend!

I've Spent...
...a total of about three hours in Peterborough station so far this year, including an hour on Monday lunchtime, on my way hom from Excel.

I need to explore the place a bit more sometime. I know it not at all.

I feel that way about where I grew up. I haven't seen it now in four years, and I'm sure I'd be ambivalent about it now.

Time and distance seems to change everything.
I think I've moved back into the neighbourhood.

Hi, Malcolm,
I lived in Oundle for 3 years, just off of South Road near an old auction house.  Small world.  :)  I shopped in Peterborough from time to time, and caught the train from there sometimes.
