Oh, I missed this one before ...

Yeah, I don't think it's any different, either.

We all live in a "kill or be killed" world.

I find mantis habits not worse than the human method of killing lobsters...

Thank you, caden da ama tal ...
I will put up links to the other 5 pet pages shortly ... though I need to repair the third one first.

That is rather interesting.
My son would get a kick out of knowing this about these insects, the part about the eating the skull, not the intercourse, of course.

Manti, fourcats ...

Yeah, we have the "garden variety" kind around here, too.  Actually in our garden, ironically enough.

as a youngster, my mom and i would sit
on the doorstep of our house and allow mantises (mantisi?) to perch on our hands.  they would always hook onto our fingernails and remain still, it was great to see them so close up.  our bugs were green.

It would make for a pretty disgusting horror movie, too, BrightIrish.

Fortunately, Prof, we only use paper plates here ...

so no one has to do any dishes.

Oh, and it has been my experience that most bugs do not taste very good; thus far I've tried cricket, grasshopper, nightcrawler and mealworm (to form a bond with my pets).

M.P.O.
This is interesting and I have the same question about the orgasms. It would make for a terrifying horror movie with cannibals and vampire's.

Well behaved children.

Dear MPO. Well, well, well. they look like well behaved children.

Insectivorous, the praying mantis. In a good hunting moment, the praying mantis also disposes its waste from the body while eating it's victims. Like many husbands, will also go to the toilet just after dinner to avoid washing the dishes. I hope your man is not like that.

Sorry I will not baby sit your children no. 6, I might eat them.

Yes, praying mantis is very common in the swamp where I grew up and as kids we dare each other to eat anything and that includes the praying mantis which tasted a bit bitter.

regards.. Prof

Re: walking sticks

I know they eat leafy vegetables and that there's a million different species of them (some of which grow to enormous sizes).

But, that's about it.

I had the exact same question (regarding Manti orgasms), Krisles ...
and I have yet to receive a satisfactory answer.

Madame
Also, know anything about "Walking Sticks"?  I always found them really fascinating little creatures to collect......never had one as a pet.....a couple of taratulas for an afternoon or two.....doodle bugs, scorpions, etc......but, I'm too intellectually lazy to look anything up about any of them....I'd rather ask you!

Madame
Just curious.....how do researchers know she's actually having an orgasm?  I mean.....does she have a smile on her face? Make sounds?  Are there contractions?  Does she smoke afterwards?  I find this fascinating........  I knew about the head chewing....that's old hat......but, the orgasms really got my attention!
