There's a NatGeog world map by my fax machine.
When I wait for the sheets to feed I look for another island. I'd already read about Tristan because it used to be covered once in a while by Geog.

It does seem to be an interesting time, My partner responded to an advert by a publishing company and they've snapped him up. The deal is not going to change our lifestyle but we look at it as a start. Churn out a couple of these non-fiction books and then maybe someone will give his fiction a go.
We've learned a lot these past few weeks about the small print of contracts. My project is completely different to that - it really is a once in a lifetime but I also regard it as a great launching pad. I never expect to be rich from this - all I seek to do is to be able to keep writing. It has been very tough this past year and so this has given me life,
I appreciate the generosity of your comment.
Regards to you

Me, too, Azur,
I especially love anomalies, paradoxes and conundrums: and French pastries on a tropical island is definitely that. You describe it so well.

Thank you. karma matters. I am so happy that some good opportunities turned up before I killed myself from work. I always work too hard.

I thought the description of the pastries would make people think of former French colonies. I think some places offer many cultural riches because of the variety of people who end up there and this can equally true in small remote places. I love all these small details that will add to the story

I find that these days I must be increasingly versatile if I am to make a living. My income is very volatile which can be stressful particularly with a family to keep but at least it is interesting.
The island is intriguing and when I am allowed to I will reveal more

The French connection came as a surprise and there are other connections to other places which are even more surprising. All will be revealed in about two years ;-)

any chance you could send me one of those chocolate
croissants? Woo! Hoo! about the "sudden" bloom of opportunity. It's only taken years of hard work and a little talent to get where you are.... Congratulations, and good luck with the health issues... :)pat

Azur,
I'm not sure where you went, although it sounds tropical and heavenly. Were these islands by any chance a French colony or protectorate at one time. That seems to be how how the local Vietnamese pho seller offers a cream puff with a bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup: Vietnam was a French colony. Ironies abound.
