that sounds really cool.
maybe I'll go there when I go back to Seattle, a dream I've had since the moment I moved. I must say that would be fun to go to a stadium where your team is the visitor and celebrating. Unfortunately whenever the M's come over to Baltimore, or like last year D.C., the lose miserably.

LOL

penguin, i really meant hostel. hostelling international at 1st and
(i think) madison. it's clean, safe, has a kitchen/lounge with view of the water (and parking lot if you're driving). there's a free, brand new as of two years ago, pool table, a tv room, internet service. it's steps away (literally!) from pike place market. it's $28/night.
you get to meet people from all over the world. and because i'm usually there for the bosox games, i get to meet members of the red sox nation. the last time i was there, bosox folks were showing up from canada, idaho, colorado, etc. , it rocked! great friendly rivalries breaking out amongst the guests 'cause of course we're all there for the entire series.
the last time i was there (two seasons ago now - rats being self-employed!) it was manny ramirez' birthday. a bunch of us went in as early as possible, stood in the stands at field level, caught the end of BP, shouted out to manny who waved back at us. a silly moment maybe but so much fun for us as a gang who, for four days, couldn't be any tighter.
you don't get that sitting in a $150/night hotel room.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to go to Safeco, but not the Seahawks stadium unfortunately. Safeco is, in my opinion, one of the best stadiums in sports, though Seattle in my opinion is one of the greatest cities in the world (except for their school system, I hear it is one of worst education areas in the nation) in all aspects. Did you really mean hostel, or did you mean hotel?

whereas i didn't think the outcome of the game was bad at all!
ed-die!, ed-die! btw, did you get to see safeco field before moving? how about the new football stadium? both beautiful. and with amtrak and the bus right there and my favorite hostel just up the road aways, it's the perfect sports getaway. thank you, seattle!

That is disappointing. I hope they get some victories on their side.
I guess one way to look at it would be to say that they were playing the ChiSox who were supposed by many of the major sporting authorities as the AL team in the World Series, but I know what you mean. Hope it gets better.

We just lost to Chicago. Make that record 2 & 10. The score was 9 –0. I think I know who stinks in the American league!

I agree that small market teams cannot compete with the Yankees or Boston. KC just passed this month a new sales tax to give the stadium a face-lift. We came within a cat’s whisker of losing this team had it failed. Nice point!

I agree with your point to cypress. There must be some form of salary cap, because with the luxury tax, the Yankees, BoSox, ChiSox, Angels and other teams infamous for having money to spend lavishly, still spend lavishly while teams like the Marlins, Royals, Nationals, and D-Rays still suffer miserably as a result because they can not compete with offering 20 million dollars to players when their entire team payroll must be under. I agree there must be a salary cap.

My Nationals were 2-9 also until they ran into an even worse team the Marlins. Now they're 4-9.
The Royals will never have a chance until the players accept a salary cap or something like it. If the luxury tax were working, the Royals would not have lost 19 in a row last year.

sorry to hear about that. Sincerely. I always feel really bad for those teams that are unfortunate. A couple years ago, when KC started the year out near the top of their division I was rooting for them. Too bad it ended the way it did, and hasn't gotten better. I hope the year turns around for your team as well.

Sorry about your Mariners. Please do not feel too bad because my team is the KC Royals. We have lost 7 in a row.
Presently we are losing to the White Sox 5 to 0 in the third inning. Our record is 2 & 9. Now this is a bad team!
