I think buying a car is better. Last time we bought a car, we went found one we liked, and drove it right off the lot. With the house we find one we like, put a bid in and cross our fingers that no one else bids on it.

I know that while patience isn't a virtue I possess, it may be one that I'm going to acheive by July.

Yep, it's stressful, for sure. First there's the "sticker shock" followed by the actual move and racing to close the deal, etc. Then all the unpacking and cleaning. But actually, it can be fun, too, with the pride of ownership and all the plans for this and that. On moving day, as long as there's food in the fridge and a bed to sleep in, everything else can wait till the next day. (Okay, that's how I do it, and I know it's not for everyone :-) All the best to you both.
BTW....I loved your pun about the kitchen renovations not adding up "gastronomically." Very clever...

Wow, how totally stressful.
The banks calender is broken? Does everyone share one single palm pilot or something? Geez! Take care

You might as well calm down and try to be patient...

I'm glad to hear that you believe in animal shelters too. As much as I love pet stores, I can't help but think how much better the world would be if the shelters were less crowded.

That's so cool that you get your pets from an animal shelter.
I am constantly harassing/haranguing my friends into doing the same.
Good luck with your home ownership.
