Fiona, malicious things are what my friends and I discuss at home.
I will try to, at least, stick to confirmed facts though.

Please don't stop the stories about the genius your brother is dating - anything goes there.

Hi,
I tried doing the whole A said, B said, etc to protect identities and my readers were confused totally. I'd think it would be nice to change names but if you're not being malicious and it's the kind of thing you'd tell your friends at home, I can't see the harm in using real names. Blogit is an anonymous forum. Just bear in mind that your neighbour could also be a blogger so steer clear of nasty. Just stick to facts - truth is often funny enough.

That's funny, my shrink said something similar, Mademoiselle,
I think the rules change when she takes a different job, which she is going to do in a couple months,. so that we can actually talk like people, without crossing "boundaries" or whatever.
As for the rest of the world, well, your mother knows how you feel, right?

franciscan, the eight commandment mentions ...
"things coming back to bite people"?
Since when?

Thank you, Blanche ... I think it's a good question, too.
Just, apparently, not a popular one.
At any rate, my therapist says that it's my journal, so I'm free to write about whatever I feel like. And needn't "censor or filter" my thoughts.
More importantly, she also said that if I wasn't a patient (and we were closer in age), she wouldn't mind hanging out with me.
Oh, and she added that I'm her wittiest client "by far".

Mademoiselle, don't do it. It'll come back to bite you. Eighth Commandment.

Mademoiselle,
Good question. I'lll keep reading your comments to see what the concensus is. Personally, nobody I know would pay $9.95 to read what I had to say, so I think I'm safe. My boyfriend couldn't care less.

Unfortunately, strat, I start almost all my "important" posts the exact same way ...
Now, one of the subjects is a dead former neighbor of mine, so I'm fairly certain she won't be joining. However, generally speaking, most of the people I plan to mention are more than likely to still be alive.

If these others are unlikely to
a: be on Blog It for any reason or b: are so egotistical they would not recognize themselves for the asshats you anonymously describe, then I would say you are safe.
If you are uncomfortable with that, then try the old "Once upon a time there was..." opening.

Still, strat, I would like to respect other people's privacy ...
However, I am trying to paint a complete and accurate picture of what my daily life is like (through this blog). Which includes a tremendous amount of time spent badmouthing others.

I've never been one to take the "safe route", Ben.
Perhaps that's why I've contracted so many STDs over the years.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking, Uncle Dave.
Though most of my friends disagree. They say to use aliases and only speak in generalities.

Better be safe than sorry. I've given this blog 4 clicks for 1 idea. We might get to confirm names later on so the other clicks might still be in reservation. Thank you.

As long as you're not libelling anyone, it should be okay. The gossip
columns of the newspapers seem to pretty much say what they want.
Then, of course, there are moral and social implications for you to consider.
