I think authors and writers are fortunate in that there is not so much expectation about their appearance. But yes it is interesting to know a little of the other side particularly when you hear people read the book.

There is someone else I know who writes wonderful books and I remember their modest start and admire her very much

Medusa, it is fascinating when someone has such self-belief
and is relentless.  Just watch out if you are in the way. I guess she figured she could talk to me because I was not seen as a threat

TAPS- thanks for the slice of life celeb pic
Of course one month they are with your community bonding and then the next they are doing it all again somewhere else.
A  well-known director made a movie about this town - his hometown - which I thought captured it well.
What did you think about the movie?

It is obvious from your writing, Azur, that you believe in yourself.  If things work out the way they appear to be doing with you, the city may have to come to you.

Hey there, Azur....Yep...It was all about her.....
You nailed this one. I bet she was irritating but fascinating to be around...It was all about her, you wrote. Exactly. I knew a successful media woman who shoved me out of my small editorship role, because she wanted the job as her pet project. The higher-ups agreed and I quit. But she knew how to market herself because she was all about the self. that is the key here. Exciting to listen to....but after awhile, it got old, and she keeps keeping on..Hmmmm...I can't be like that....My ego is not that large...Okay, a bit big, but certainly not la grande..

Azur,
It's got to be interesting to see the whole picture, get an inside perspective on the person behind the cover, so to speak.  Idols do tend to have feet of clay, don't they?

Life moves on. People move on. Out of sight out of mind. Once in a while I think of people who used to be in my life but not very often. Its interesting to see one succeed . Bob and I kind of had some of those same kind of feelings when Robert Altman was back in Kansas City filming Kansas City (that's him in white). My Bob (at the time mine) used to work with him here before he made it big in Hollywood.   Mark went and watched him film and took this pic.   He told Mark he remembered us, but I'll bet he didn't.

that is the kind of thing that really gets under your skin, isn't it? Oh well. I believe there are rewards to earning your way insted of the beg/borrow/steal method.

I think she has talent because so many thousands of people like her book but it is odd for me because I have this other perspective of her and  yes the intimate networking helps.

I'm not going to ask....gulp...Sooo life goes on.

Azur--- She had what it takes to succeed--- and that probably was not
talent. Sadly, it becomes less and less important all the time.

I love being in the city and I love being out of the city but I weigh up all the factors - family, kids, finances., fresh air. Luckily I know myself and accept that I will always divide my affection. I probably need to do a little time in the city again just now. It does take a while doesn't it to calm down after the city. People who have never known it fear it

Would You Like to Go Back to the City?
I moved from the city at an early age, then fell into a life style and still miss it.  My husband did not want to move to the city for he had lived his entire life in a small rural town.  It is difficult to talk one self up if one is not basically arrogant and prideful, in my opinion.  Humble people have a hard time avoiding the attention and being self centered.  Your day will come!!  Do not get bitter.  I had an aunt who had a best friend.  The son of the best friend became a success and is worth millions and he shared with his Mom and family.  My aunt became bitter and I think it eventually led to her sickness and death.  She had choices, yet made some that did not turn out as well as her best friend.  Focus on your best and find ways to get the best for you!!
