Though perhaps not  from a health standpoint, Una ...

Too much TV can be really bad for you.

Watching TV is the least costly among your endless options. Wise choice.

Well, good luck with that, Sophistie.

Sometimes, Ben ...
But, unfortunately, usually not.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 10:27 PM | link to this | reply

I appreciate that, Frankenkitty ...

And yes, the last day of Summer is often a day of mourning for what might have been (a more productive vacation).

But I vow that not to be the case this year!

Enjoy!
After substitute teaching for about a month now, I think I am going to apply for a full time teaching position in a grade 6 - 8 school next year!  I hope it will be fun and exciting!!

Well, at least it's not the
last day of your vacation.  That day is going to really suck.  I love hiking, but whitewater rafting sounds  dangerous.  I hope you have a great summer!

Fortunately, it's already begun to, brettnik.

Answers to FoF (in order):

1. The latter.

2. I'm not much of a babysitter.

3. So do I.

You working this summer or taking classes
or being a bum? Hey wanna come up a couple of days a week and entertain my kids? LOL  You can bring a giant bug so long as it's under lock and key. We have a pool...

posted by FactorFiction on May 10, 2006 at 11:57 AM | link to this | reply

I'm well on my way to doing so, Talion.

Live fast, die young, leave a good looking corpse.

posted by Talion on May 10, 2006 at 11:01 AM | link to this | reply

Yep.

I sure have.

My presence is no longer required.

You haven't broken up for summer in early May? Surely not?

My boyfriend once asked me if I could videotape my sleepover party ...
Just in case, "anything happened".

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 9:46 AM | link to this | reply

I agree, they are weird that way. Some things I just don't want to know
So I ask him to censor himself.  Total honesty in some areas is highly overrated, imho.

I've never quite understood the allure of "girl-on-girl action" to men ...
My boyfriend says he gets excited if he even sees me talking to another girl.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 9:21 AM | link to this | reply

Mademoiselle,

Trampy is good, why pretend, that's why my boyfriend watches. Even the weather girl is a hoochy mama.

Gideon will always channel surf and stop just long enough on the Spanish channel to see if there are any women fighting.  In about 1 in 10 "channel surfs", he's right.  There will be a long string of Spanish and then "whap".

posted by Blanche. on May 10, 2006 at 9:11 AM | link to this | reply

Yeah, Blanche, usually the women are attractive (if somewhat trampy) ...

Not these ones though.

I guess because this particular show was geared primarily towards a female audience.

Meanwhile, I love the Spanish soap operas ... everything's all so dramatic.

I really do, Jacenta ...

If I had a bunny, I think it would be my first choice.  Although, I would strongly consider "Bugs", too.  But only if he was gray ... and a he.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 9:05 AM | link to this | reply

I love the Spanish channel, Mademoiselle,
Usually the tearful women are wearing gold spandex, cut down to there, while speaking volleys of (to me) unintelligible Spanish, and once in a while, someone will start fighting.  It's very entertaining.

Mademoiselle....

"Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!"  hahaha  So, you think Chocolate would be a good name.

Enjoy your well earned needed vacation!    I want one too!  hahaha

Thank you, Medusa ...
And, in my mind, pretty much everything Prince says and does is brilliant, actually.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 8:55 AM | link to this | reply

Mademoiselle....Enjoy your time off, doing something close to nothing...
I like that line from Prince's 'Raspberry Beret.' That line is in there about doing something close to nothing.' How brilliant is that line??? Anyway, hope you end up hiking saomeplace even if it's in your imagination....

posted by MedusaNextDoor on May 10, 2006 at 8:51 AM | link to this | reply

Aaron, I'm not sure how appealing a catfight would have been ...

between these particular women.

Unless, of course, you're into the Ruth Buzzi and Ann Ramsey types.

P.S. I really need to stop with the obscure references.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 8:32 AM | link to this | reply

Depends, PassionFlower ...
On whether you mean with or without a parachute?

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 8:28 AM | link to this | reply

Thank you very much, Ann.

It feels strange to suddenly have so much free time.

Waking up at 11 AM feels pretty good, though.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 8:27 AM | link to this | reply

To us guys,
watching a "The View" type talk show, in a language we can't really understand, and with a lot of tearful confessions - would be hell.  We'd be screaming for explosions, car chases, even a catfight.

Okay then, foothills it is!
But you do realize there are only certain times of the year when one can climb Mt. Everest. How about jumping out of an airplane over the ocean?

posted by Passionflower on May 10, 2006 at 6:59 AM | link to this | reply

The best is yet to come. I wish you a happy vacation. With or without the TV. Lol.

Uh, that would be "climactic"

It's 4 in the morning here.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 12:51 AM | link to this | reply

Although usually, Azur, my summer breaks ...
are actually pretty climatic.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 10, 2006 at 12:49 AM | link to this | reply

Sounds like a typical
anti-climactic start to the summer break.

posted by Azur on May 10, 2006 at 12:40 AM | link to this | reply

Thank you so much, PassionFlower ...
I think I'll start with something a little smaller.  Maybe with a few foothills.

I love this post!

It's funny and clever.

Actually, those first few days are your time to unwind, a time of transition. This happens to me in my job. The work is so different from my regular life that it takes a few weeks to adjust. You'll be out there jumping out of airplanes in no time.

I think this is the season for climbing Everest in case you're inclined.
