next time, i think you should sing along. have fun with it, act the parts,
opera always tells a story. it might change the music for you. that's what i did with it anyway, turned it into a daytime soap opera. otherwise i would have lost my mind.

I love my mother. I am happy you love yours too.

No, no one here sings out loud, fourcats ...
fortunately.
Since it was my mother's car, we ended up listening to opera (seriously). It was brutal.

Ah, your mom is lucky to have you as a daughter.
I am doomed to a lifetime of inadequacy due to my lack of interest in power tools.

Ah, they love me anyway. And how, might we ask, has the gnome managed to remain in the Russian chick's company?

Mademoiselle,
I can see her point. In fact, I think the whole powdered doughnut issue was needless stress, sort of like carrying some totally unneccessary piece of luggage, just to be able to worry about it.
It was a major point of irritation with my boyfriend that during all the driving that we did round and round in circles, we did not find the little store that sold us the stale powdered doughnuts in order to get his money back. He obsesses about those kinds of things.

Consider it stricken from the record, Blanche,
Meanwhile, my mother would never in a million years allow us to bring powdered doughnuts into her car. In fact, I'm not sure she would even allow them in the
house.

Road trips seem to the acid test of self-control, imho, Mademoiselle,
Even under the best of circumstances, being enclosed in a tiny, moving cage of steel, immersed in all the familiar amnion of family, is never easy. I think that the next time I go visit my mother, I will take the bus from the ferry terminal, even if takes twice as long, it's worth it. It'll save her gas, anyway.
Gideon had the nerve to get mad at me last week for dumping the powdered doughnuts (the stale powdered doughnuts), that he had bought into the console between the seats. I pointed out through gritted teeth, that he had put them there, and that I was searching for something he insisted that I find. It's a good thing it was a short trip.

Mlle,
It didn't just take moving out of the house to develop a really close relationship with my mom, but getting married, having a kid. Oh, and I think having transatlantic borders has something to do with it, too... Nothing like living in a foreign country to foster a long-overdue close relationship with Mutti.

Mademoiselle,
I can promise you that your mother will never think of you as an adult, no matter what happens or how old you get.
The only mother I have around now is a mother-in-law. We didn't get over there today because my brother-in-law's son was released from jail during the afternoon and he was back at ''grandma's house'' for dinner. Ms. Wife didn't want to be anywhere near him or the family because grandson got busted for being a public idiot and the whole family had her pissed off. I went to Home Depot parking lot again, and it was 103 degrees in the shade. It was so crowded you could hardly move and everyone was yelling and honking and trying to run over each other.
The cashier has a daughter whose birthday is the same day as mine. She was real nice. I should have wished her happy mother's day.
You're pretty lucky.

I guess the only way to change her perception, is to start acting like one.
And that ain't gonna happen.

Hi M
Moms, you can't live with them, you can't live without them. My mom and I have a great relationship now that I'm out of the house. I think a lot of the problems stem from the fact that they never really view you as an adult.
