Also, to clarify a few issues regarding this post:

1. Russian culture is very different from the American one.

2. This is a huge house, it would be very easy for people to come and go without passing anywhere near my room.

Therefore, in summation, I am not nearly as immature, as this post might initially have you believe.

I am pleased to be doing well (readers-wise), SlyCy ...
but I try not to get too caught up in numbers or rankings.

I think some of us, Scriber, (particularly my mother) might be a tad too "young at heart".

Maybe so, Ann ... of course, I could always just hire a maid.

If you lived alone, you would have less time to write because of all the chores. I know.

You've won contest #1 in my blog. Your prize is in. There's an update for contest #2. Thanks so much for your participation.

That was a joke ...

of course.

She's young enough to still (potentially) outlive me.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 19, 2006 at 9:56 AM | link to this | reply

For as long as it takes ...
She can't possibly live forever, now can she?

posted by Mademoiselle on May 19, 2006 at 9:53 AM | link to this | reply

You'd install it.
It should have a sliding serrated mechanism like a CLUB or other steering wheel brake lock.

How long are you intending on living there, btw?

Whatever!

Oh sorry. I would not want you to be caught under age
taking advantage of a gnome... how quickly I forget the Big Birthday you just celebrated...

Oh, and, also, to address FoF's comment ...
I'm 21, not 20 ... so, see it's not pathetic at all!

Perhaps this might answer your question, Cesium ...
she also believed the neighbors were spying on her ... from in the trees.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 19, 2006 at 9:27 AM | link to this | reply

It's cool, Cesium, I can just delete the error.

Who would install that thing, though?

Plus I'm not sure my mother wouldn't notice.

So was the landlord doing that?

posted by AlienInsomniac on May 19, 2006 at 9:26 AM | link to this | reply

Um like I said, Get one of these

Door Knob Security Bar - $19.95

posted by AlienInsomniac on May 19, 2006 at 9:24 AM | link to this | reply

I might try it, Cesium.
My grandmother used to do that because she feared the landlord was coming into her house (when she was asleep) and stealing stuff.

At some point over the summer, Rcky, I plan to readdress the issue.
Because my relationship with my mother is currently at it's alltime peak.

MPO
Have you tried putting something on the floor right behind the door so that it will make noise when dingygirl opens it?

Madame......
Wow! I read that post! Well you seem stable now.......can you have the locks?

posted by RckyMtnActivist on May 19, 2006 at 8:48 AM | link to this | reply

Thank you so much for the compliment, Rcky ...

And, once again, this link may explan some things (regarding the locks):

Exactly, Strat ... my cat has actually knocked all sorts of stuff over ...
(lamps, speakers, etc.)

Um, I'm in my house, Medusa, in my room ...

So, I don't see what the problem is?

It's the men who shouldn't be there.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 19, 2006 at 8:35 AM | link to this | reply

Thank you, Frankly, for giving me the opportunity to plug one of my favorite posts.

This one should explain why I have no locks on the door (sort of):

But Mademoiselle....You're looking for attention in your undies...
Or so it would seem....Call me old-fashioned, but you don't strip down so men can gawk even if you are in mom's house. Aren't you embarrassed?

posted by MedusaNextDoor on May 19, 2006 at 8:31 AM | link to this | reply

Well, it's not like I'd have a ton of different men coming over all the time or anything, Medusa.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 19, 2006 at 8:29 AM | link to this | reply

Madame......

How about installing a new lock on your bedroom door? That would solve the probelm!  BTW, I enjoy your writings, you are humorous and have a very good way with words!

posted by RckyMtnActivist on May 19, 2006 at 8:29 AM | link to this | reply

What is it about cats and computer keyboards?
I had a Siamese, a very vocal little bastard, named PITA --Pain In The Ass -- and if I was on the computer, he, like your pet puma, would wander in, yowl piteously, use my ankles for scratching posts, then leap heavily onto the keyboard, rendering whatever I was working on an unintelligible wreck, or worse, turning an innocuous instant message into a bizarre -- probably anatomically impossible -- sexual advance.

posted by strat on May 19, 2006 at 8:28 AM | link to this | reply

welll.....a lock on the door is gonna get you writing in peace..
....cheap fast and easy....I like the stripped down wirting approach too...and then you never need to answer the door if someone interrupts because by the time your're reasonably decent, they're gone.....so keep typing....oh and perhjaps you need some ear plugs too to block the cat.,..or put it out when you put your mother out....

posted by FranklyMydear1 on May 19, 2006 at 8:28 AM | link to this | reply

Okay, Mademoiselle..Sexy to write in undies...but not in front of mom's men
If you had your own place, you could even write in the buff....but just a little advice, cover up when men come into the house...I mean, come on....

I think the little bird has tested its wings and should now fly out of the nest, to whatever.

Maybe so, Ms. Bradrock ...
Though we each have plenty of space, actually.  It's just a matter of them respecting mine by staying in their's.

posted by Mademoiselle on May 19, 2006 at 7:38 AM | link to this | reply

Be careful what you wish for...

I've lived alone for too long...talk about eerie!!! No one to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas with. No one to 'disturb your thinking'...It's much too quiet.

Though family can sometimes be annoying, they're a wonderful thing to have. (Your cat sounds funny! Mine's a little wierd too.)

Everyone needs their own space...
and yet a place they can call home. It sounds as if your home is running out of personal spaces. YIKES! Perhaps all of these visitors are what makes you writing so unique...Blessings!
